After taking a few years away from Olympic training, Anne considered her future relationship with the Olympic Games. Although she had long considered bringing teams of her fellow U.S. Virgin Islands country-men and -women to the Winter Games, she knew that she wasn’t personally finished competing. So, in 2012, at the age of 59, she contacted former U.S. Olympian and coach Ruth Rowe to discuss her options. By the end of 2012, Anne was training in archery, a sport that she first took up while in college.

Within the first few months of 2013, Anne was in fulltime training in Virginia and winning tournaments.

At age 60, Anne Abernathy was once again breaking down barriers and redefining expectations on her Archery Journey. In 2014, after only one year of international competition, Anne became a World Ranked Archer with three 9th places in World Ranking Events. In addition, she qualified for both the Central America and Caribbean Games AND the Pan American Olympic Festival. Anne continues training full time with renown Coach Ruth Rowe and The Archery Program in Bull Run, Virginia. Check back often to this page to track Anne's progress in international competition including the Amercias Masters Games in Vancouver, August 2016 and the World Masters Games in Auckland, New Zealand, April 2017.
